Providing captivating imagery - a Bird's eye view!
Osprey-smg is a registered LLC dedicated to sharing my passion for alternative visual perspectives, highlighting the use of small Unmanned Aerial Systems (µUAS/drones) for landscape mapping and modeling. I also share some work on using aerial imagery and other, more down to earth, perspectives in producing image mosaics, maps and 3D models employing Structure from Motion (SfM) computational techniques.
I use a variety of camera systems. On ground I use Sony alpha6500, GoPro Hero, Samsung & Theta 360 spherical systems, DJI Pocket/Osmo and Insta360 Go2. Aerial camera systems include DJI Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic Pro, Mavic Mini, Spark, 3D Robotics Solo (GoPro payload). I just received a ZeroZero Falcon V-Copter. I am generally platform agnostic

Aerial camera systems include DJI Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic Pro, Mavic Mini, Spark, 3D Robotics Solo (GoPro payload). I just received a ZeroZero Falcon V-Copter. I am generally platform agnostic and use any/all computing systems that support my work. I usually do my creative work on MacBook Pros and Mac Mini. I have a dedicated drone mapping computer, custom built PC that is a total "beast" with >128 GB of RAM, super fast graphics processing, etc. I've been using this system for Structure from Motion (SfM) computational analysis to render landscape mosaics (at hectare to micro scales), having published a number of articles, conference presentations and a book chapter on the subject.
I've been photographing landscapes and oddities since adolescence (had a darkroom back in 8th grade). I've been applying remote sensing and aerial photography in my research sine the early 1980s. Using digital imaging since the mid 1990s. sUAS/drone aerial photography and mapping since 2014. I am a Coastal Geologist/Oceanographer and Univ
I am a Coastal Geologist/Oceanographer and University Professor with decades of experience in landscape mapping/modeling. I am currently still honing my cinematic videography skills, something quite different from nadir view aerial landscape mapping techniques.

I'm a FAA Part 107 Certified/licensed Commercial UAS/drone Pilot. I teach sUAS/drone applications, aerial photo/videography and landscape mapping/modeling, as well as FAA Part 107 test preparation at my university. What inspires me to keep shooting photos for mapping and other tasks is the unique perspective of the Osprey - low altitude

I teach sUAS/drone applications, aerial photo/videography and landscape mapping/modeling, as well as FAA Part 107 test preparation at my university. What inspires me to keep shooting photos for mapping and other tasks is the unique perspective of the Osprey - low altitude aerial reconnaissance/hunter. My approach is a bit unique because I love the look of the land and can find unique viewpoints.
